INTENTION is primarily a strategy board game that reflects the game and the spirit of hockey, from the design of the board, to the positioning of the game pieces, and the contemporary rules that reflect those of North America’s favourite winter sport.

The layout of the game board is strategically optimized to provide both an entertaining environment and a playing area where critical deliberation and calculation can mean the difference between a win or a loss.

At the same time, the spirit of hockey and the connection to our Canadian game is maintained and exemplified.

The board is also “alphanumerically” referenced for simplifying the recording of game moves, (when it’s desired) and for the benefit of those who dictate their moves to another person moving the game pieces.

The alphanumeric referencing makes it possible to play games over a distance by email or other technical methods.

The INTENTION 3D Game System offers several options for printing a variety of different sized game boards in full colour or greyscale. Also included from inside the electronic game manual are instructions for the mounting and protection of the surface of the game boards, and ideas for making a set of customized game pieces from easily obtained items found in the home or at any “dollar” store.

Most people would probably print out a simple non-colour board for starters and at a later time, print a full colour version and have it inexpensively laminated at any office supply or copy shop. It could then be mounted on a piece of quarter inch plywood or even a clipboard for an easy to clean and more enduring playing surface.

At some point like many others, your passion and game spirit will probably inspire you to make a custom set of game pieces from numerous types of materials or objects. The choice is almost endless, and some examples and ideas are included in the back of the electronic manual.

The INTENTION 3D Game System creates a user-friendly intuitive environment for simulating and practicing game play for INTENTION. It also has a data entry module for the recording, saving and replaying of your special games, tournaments, or competitions.

The INTENTION 3D Game System installation package offers users the option of installing the “Microsoft Text to Speech” application which installs the original Microsoft text to speech files. This installation allows the INTENTION 3d Game System to become more user friendly and adaptable by allowing players the option of hearing the audio confirmation of player movement and other events in the game editor module.

In the 3d Game Re-Player module the colour and position of the player moving is always clearly displayed in large text format for the benefit of everyone.

The INTENTION 3d Game System is an indispensable tool for the serious INTENTION player, and anyone wishing to practice and review their personal game strategies.

Inside the 3d Simulator, everything is under your control. You choose from either the 3d horizontal or 3d vertical board layout, or you can use both and run 2 simulations or even play games electronically at the same time. You set the game pieces up the way you want. It's your choice which team plays the top and the bottom of the board. You’re the coach, and the team captain. It's your game. The computer is not an opponent and will only reflect your player moves. This is a total simulator and you call all the shots. “Recaps” or links back to pertinent game rules are available if you need them from inside the simulators and the game editor.

For a more reliable game experience, there is a "move tracker" system that indicates which team is at any particular stage in the game turn protocol. A user adjustable “turn / move” timer is included to really give you the feel of playing under the pressure of the clock. And finally a scoreboard is part of the system, for keeping track of the goals. And if you wish, you can even turn on the background sounds that you'd find at any hockey game.

Hockey is always exciting, and with INTENTION there is no off-season. You'll soon have a whole new perspective of the game. INTENTION, the 3d Simulator, & the 3d Re-Player are Microsoft Windows compatible applications. They have been tested on computers running on as low as 128 mb of ram and 600 mhz of processing speed and the following operating systems. Windows 98 SE, Windows XP Home Edition, and Windows Vista Home. Your computer must be capable of a 1024 x 768 screen resolution and most computers are. If the demonstration version works okay, then so will the full program.
